That's a lot of seedlings! What do you do with them all? I did about 50 tomatoes, 30 peppers, and am just giving away the last of those I didn't plant.

About 90 varieties will be going in my mom's, grandma's, and other friends' and families' gardens as well as my home garden plot. The remaining 275 open-pollinated slicer varieties I will be trialing in giant 100 foot rows. The goal of the project is to discover which tomato varieties appeal to me. I will save seeds from all varieties that produce ripe tomatoes, for genetic preservation, but in the future I will only grow out the varieties that I prefer for vigor, aesthetic appeal, and flavor. Its not only a trial among a large diversity of varieties, but it will also be a trial within each population of a given variety as each seedling in a cluster of plants will compete to be the dominant vine out of the group.

Best wishes!

Thank you! :-) Yesterday and today I have been working on tilling my garden. This weekend consistently warm temperatures will arrive, which means its time to transplant!! Wooot!

How are those tomatoes going? You looks like you have a ton of varieties. Are you trying any new ones this year? Any stand-out performers?
