Coastal NC Gardening

Hi all,

I am moving from the NC Piedmont (Charlotte Area) to the upper East Coast region of NC in Pamlico County very close to the water with hot, humid summers, the occasional hurricane and mild to sometimes brief cold winters.

Have over the years been successful growing hot and mild peppers, tomatoes, okra and figs in both the garden, raised beds and containers. Need advice on adapting to coastal climate, soils and the salt water inundation of a hurricane.

Soil is now basically sand fill to elevate the lot and will obviously need amendments to provide a good growing medium. Any and all suggestions for raised beds and container gardening are appreciated on this new adventure.
