I would be interested in reading a comparison of Dwarf Champion, Dwarf Champion #15, & Dwarf Champion Improved.... three varieties offered by the Victory Seed Co.

Hey there! I've actually not grown any of them myself, but would be surprised if there was very much different between the three of them...My suspicion is that they were selections of the original Dwarf Champion - probably various seed companies found a plant that had some distinctly improved characteristics and amended the name....seed companies often offered slightly modified named "selections" to get an advantage on their competition - but in testing by growing them out, little if any difference was noted.

If you email Mike at Victory, I am sure he will share his experiences with each of them!

I have grown all 3 side by side-not too much difference. I am not where I can get my hands on my notes right now, but I will and will post.

What nobody has said here is that of the existing dwarfs only New Big Dwarf is known for flavor. Have you considered getting into the [URL="http://www.tomatoville.com/forumdisplay.php?f=83"]Dwarf Project[/URL] to grow some promising varieties for the team? :)

feldon..... WOULD join the Dwarf Project but,after selling our single home & moving to a condo with limited garden space I'm not able to grow as much as I would like anymore. Thanks for asking!

Larry-I will post on the three of them. There are also other dwarves that are real good. Like New Big Dwarf (Victory sells it also). Also mano, sometimes called mano rugose. I grew it last year and really liked it. I think there are photos at TV that I posted. Also mini-red cherry that Jenifer sent me. I have seed for the last two that I fermented from the greenhouse last winter, so the chance of crossed seed is much reduced. PM me if you want seed. There are lots of good dwarves for you. They dont taste like Brandywine, but each person's situation is different.

Larry-Of the 3, Dwarf Champion 15 was my favorite. I wrote in my notes-"good, will regrow." I haven't yet because I am growing new dwarves this fall, but I will grow all 3 again, with 15 being the first.
