When we think about russian tomatoes, the first what is on our mind is: Black Krim, Black from Tula, Anna Russian. Those tomatoes are famous all over the world except in Soviet Union.
But the fact is that on russian seed pages those famous tomatos dont exist and you can find rare people on russan forums that know about them. If they have them, then seeds are from USA or something from the west.
As a fan of dark tomatoes I made some reserch about origin. We all know the story, so I will not repeat it.

I also agree with Andrey BY in post : background of black ethiopian on 02.20.2008, post 11:
".......I have many relatives in Ukraine and had been to Creamea several times and never seen or heard about black fruited old vareites from there......"

Anyway it is strange to buy russan tomato from USA or UK,...as it would be to buy , lets say: American wonder in Moscow. They can say it is famous american tomato, but no one in America wouldnt grow it or knew about it.
That was a reason that I put some of the links before in my previous post. There you can see a lot of "never heard" tomatoes and can not find BFT,BK,AR,...
Popular black tomatoes recently in SU are: Black Mavr and Black De Barao, sometimes also Black Prinz,....

And for those who know russian, here is some reading on their tomato forum:

you can use google translate too

just my 2 cents
