What was the soil pH from your test, as it will be a good indicator to work with.

It may be worth settling on working a portion of the whole field in the short term and amend the soil in one plot now, rather than looking at the field as a big bed and spreading your money and energy over it all.

Just out of interest, can you get a green manure crop to grow eg Oats and turn it into the soil when it grows.
