Default dug my red wing today

i pushed them over 8/10 and dug them today. too bad we got 5" of rain on sunday and monday! anyway since more rain coming friday to sunday i figured i better get them out of the ground. this is about 1 week later than normal.

i have to say i am extremely impressed with the size of them. only 3 or 4 were eaten by voles, something that never occurred before. huge snow pack this year and the vole population is booming. of the 55-60 onions only about 8 or 10 are 2", most are 3 1/2" to 4" and maybe 8 or 10 are 4 1/2". i'm pretty sure these are the largest red wings i have grown in the 4 or 5 years growing them. very solid and they'll keep to may or june.

too bad my copra aren't as large. they are nice sized but most are not so large but then i grew twice as many copra which store a full year+. both onions were grown in the same bed and amended the same. i'll post weight of both in october when they are done curing.
