Before Jungs bought many of these smaller companies, HPS was the "bulk" branch of Shumway's. Both were owned at that time by (Wayne?) Hilton.

Yes Carol,it was Wayne HIlton who built up a stable of companies after buying the Shumway name for $2000 and then formed Totaly Tomatoes and Seymour's Seeds ( flowers) and then in a rather uncomfortable buyout bought Vermont Bean.

I thought that HPS was the only company he hung onto but if the return address on the HPS catalog is Jungs, then I guess that one went with the others.

Jung's wanted all of them just to get the Shumway name b/c the progonal Jung who formed the company was good friends with the original Shumway who formed that company.

Wayne e-mailed me a couple of yers ago and said that he missed being in the seed business and was looking for another opportunity. but I haven't heard anything since then.
