Yes, I make apple butter It is easy. I peel and core the apples (it tastes best with a mixture of apples), then cut up and put in my Nesco roaster with some apple cider. They cook all day until very soft. Then, I blend with a stick blender and let cook down some more until it mounds on a spoon. I wait to add spices (cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, touch of cloves) until almost the right consistency, so it doesn't become too strong as it cooks down.

Fill half pint jars, remove bubbles with plastic knife, seal and process in boiling water bath for 10 mins. I get around 6-8 jars by the time it cooks down. I give out samples and most people love it. I don't understand why recipes call for cups and cups of sugar because it is plenty sweet enough. However, it will get moldy eventually, even in the refrigerator since it doesn't have extra sugar for preserving.
