I had chard once grow from November of one year until August of two years later. It had a root above ground the size of a large man's bicep!
It was in part shade and finally passed away in August, AZ,during a 2 week long record breaking heat wave,if you can imagine how miserable record August heat in AZ for two weeks can be. 115-120 every day with a couple of days getting up to 122. And, no less than 90-95 at night.
Yeah,but it was a dry heat. Ha ha!
