Ya have to use white gas in those old stoves and lantens. Its a highly refined gasoline which is why its so expensive and white gas does not have additives (additives will clog/gum up the stove/lantern fuel lines which is why you can't use regular gasoline, and kerosene is even worse).
So use the mfr's recommended fuels for your camp stoves and lanterns or buy a kit to convert to propane.
