Rajun, the way you planted them too close together looks like they would be easier to pick. Mine that I have grown 3 feet apart grew more like bushes, and a double-jointed wrist might have come in handy when picking them.
Tabasco is a beautiful plant full of different colors that lasts for months, and they make a sauce so good that they are used commercially. If anyone were to ask me about a 4-5' tall edible ornamental looking pepper - tabasco would be my answer.
