I had a bumper crop last summer, but we had weeks of near 100 and the second summer of very warm nights...In past years I had some success, but DTM are not the only factors...I have noticed Okra is similar to Eggplant, in that if the nights are dropping significantly they really poke along...
I have had best luck with Burmese and Emerald. I put out seedlings at least 4 weeks too.
Northerners do need to be eased into Okra...I start by pickling it and then frying, and if anybody is still game I give them stewed Okra and tomatoes...
I hate to admit it, but I am starting to really like it, and trying 2 more dwarf varities this year...
