Do you turn wood?
I dont know if it is lathe hacking or not.
But you made me think of something.
With the tubular ways and drill quill I can make this thing do far more than it was intended to do.
Like some pretty good grinding work.
What I dont want to do is permanently alter the parts that are on it and ruin them.

I got the idea for what I am doing when I saw the old art deco Yates lathe and how it was set up.
Where I worked at many years ago in a cabinet shop my boss bought a bigger Yates lathe for $25 at an auction.

It never dawned on me the style of the Shopsmith is art deco influenced.
The ugly contraption that someone put on it before me was horrible.
