I'm doing something like that this year. I have some Candy Apple Red onions that are supposed to be from Dixondale
http://www.dixondalefarms.com/produc...ate_day_onions I planted onions that started to sprout in an area that is in heavily dappled shade every season except winter. The area is completely out of the way and will eventually be planted in shade plants.
I am growing the onions to collect seeds to plant next October, and we think onion seed pods look nice.
