Yes, all tomatoes can be grown in containers. Especially cherry tomatoes.
If you are looking for extra early, then I second SunGold. And yes, definitely Gold Nugget, very early and prolific - (it is determinate, but NOT small!) Also Koralik, Swet Million F1, Gardeners Delight..
Several Artisan cherries grow really compact and produce well, Pink Tiger is my favorite but Maglia Rosa is similar.
