Picked up a corned beef at Aldi's half price today. Thanks, Rhines81, I never thought of cooking it in a crock pot before. I read your post and even though it is 1:30 in the morning, timing was perfect. I put it in the crock pot with carrots, onion and a bottle of stout. It should be ready in time for lunch tomorrow. Or maybe even a late breakfast with eggs.
Hope it turns out well. I don't drink beer and that bottle was probably a year old, lol. I was told it was unfit to drink any more. Well it was still fizzy and foamed up when I poured it in, so hopefully it is still fine for cooking. I guess I will find out. How long do you think you can keep an unopened beer and use it for cooking? There are no dates on the bottle, so I don't know how beer drinkers know how old the beer they get at the store is before they drink it.
