Hi Amber I worked for a dairy farmer last winter moving electric fences within paddocks planted in a turnip and oat mix,what i saw(and tripped over) is that would have been an average size for a turnip.
They only become woody once past winter and then start to bolt.
As kids we used to the jump the fences, grab some turnips and head down to the river for a munch.Looking back i don`t know how we eat them,
or why? a case of the "stolen fruit tastes sweeter" i think.
