Cole I dont know what they do in the army but when I was in if you were gone for over I think 4 or 6 months and they caught you, they would put you in a platoon with a bunch of other guys and you got an undesirable discharge and let out.
They didn't even cut your hair.
Some of these poor guys didn't go home for fear of being caught and all along their discharge had been mailed to them.

Thye have several discharges in the military.
Honorable.
General under honorable.
General under other than honorable AKA GOS good of the service.
Undesirable.
Bad conduct AKA six six and a kick AKA Big Chicken Dinner equals felony.
Dishonorable. felony.
One kind of punishment called NJP or what we call Office hours.
One kind of off the record punishment that lord knows what will happen to you but you better like it or else.
Mine was extra duty NCO for a week and I wasn't an NCO.
There is no such thing as extra duty NCO.

One time another guy and I took off to Oregon and I got back two days late.
He stayed.
When he got back I was his guard and had to carry a club to whack him with if he got out of line or he wouldn't run off that was the talk of the platoon.
I didn't even get in trouble and was asked if I had a good time.

The deer I skinned out in the squad bay hung from a ventilation duct.

Three kinds of court martial.
Summery.
Special.
General.
