Are you saying that 2 cubic feet would only fill 3 -five gallon containers.
That would mean only 36 tomatoes in the 5 gallon containers vs the 48 in the same 2 cubic foot of medium that is in one container.

Also I believe an earthbox would be almost exactly 2 cubic feet--maybe that is why they work so well.
