Default Black instead of pink....??.....

Thought I planted a pink but it turned out to be a black of some kind. Does anyone have an idea of which variety this might be. It looks to be Regular Leaf, but honestly I can't tell for sure with some plants.. Thanks.

Which pink did you plant? Where did the seeds come from?

That's the most important point as I see it.

And no, you can't ID a so called black from just a picture b'c there are well over 100 different ones known.

What other seeds did you have this past Spring, were there any blacks, and as Habitat said, what pink did you think you planted?

or was this a purchased plant that was mislabeled?

It was a plant that I purchase from a nursery in Louisville, KY that Gary Millwood grew the heirlooms out for, so I'm pretty confident the plants that arrived at the nursery were solid I believe someone else did the labeling instead of Gary as 'Hege' was spelled wrong on the label, so that may be where the mixup happened... Just a guess ( No biggy as I'm just curious what kind of black this is as I like it and seems to be pretty productive.

The other 'blacks' I have are 3 JD's, which don't look at all like this, and a Cherokee Purple which is a couple of rows over.

That looks like a red black to me (skin is yellow). Cherokee Purple and JD's Special C-Texas are pink blacks (skin is clear). Paul Robeson is a red black.
