Default Tobolsk

Tobolsk was one of my favorites when I grew it a few years ago, so I grew it again this year to see how it compares. I finally got some large tomatoes without BER this week, and it's even better than what I remembered. Sweet and juicy! I ate a Sweet Ozark Orange for comparison, and the Tobolsk was even sweeter than SOO.

I see it described online as a yellow tomato, but in my gardens, I'm getting just about the same shade of orange for Tobolsk, Sweet Ozark Orange, Orlov Yellow, and Zolotoe Serdtse.

I noticed with both Orlov's Yellow and Yoder's German Yellow that I like them a lot better after they turn orange.

Good to know. SOO tastes much better at the deep orange stage too. Waiting for Orlov's and Yoder's.

They're all big plants. It's hard to judge productivity because it has varied so much between my three garden sites this year; they seem to be about the same.

I haven't eaten them all at the same time, but it seems that Sweet Ozark Orange is the creamiest and Tobolsk is the sweetest of the three.
