Things are starting to take off really good now.I grew mortage lifter,Brandywine,sub arctic,Italian pleated,Roma,chefs choice(saved seeds from hybrid) and big league(saved seeds from hybrid).the pleated I got last year at a farmer's market.the gal said her grandfather grew them for years and gave her seeds and she has been growing them for years also.not sure if they are Italian or not.

I second that,very clean and weed free.I think I saw some bales of straw on the upper right side.I have straw used as mulch throughout mine.

Things growing like crazy now.the straw bales were holding down a tarp to kill the grass and weeds for my expansion.more room=more tomatoes next year.can't wait..the cucumber is sweeter yet.picking one a day now.very sweet and great taste.all tomatoes setting fruit very well.I'm happy so far.

I did the same thing this spring,I put my tarp out to kill the grass behind my garden to increase the size(8'x14') this fall.I'll put in a cover crop in the fall and plant into it next year.

What would a guy plant as a cover crop?should I be doing the whole garden like that every year?

I do,I put hairy vetch and farmers rye in Sept. and mow it down in the spring a few weeks before I plant into it.You could also turn it over about a month before you plant.I went no till this year because I had a total knee replacement in March.
