Default First Raised Bed

This whole raised bed thing is getting farther away from tomatoes general discussion and more into the do it yourself area.

The thing is almost complete.

I have two more 5 foot post tho put in the middle for reasons you will see later on.
There will be another bed that is a mirror image of this one and connected with another structure.

But as of now play has ended and I have to get ready for work.

Here is what I have done so far.

Worth, you certainly have been busy!

Are you planning on using the posts to support a grid of some kind to support the maters? Or a possible sun screen if too hot there? Now you have my curiousity piqued.

As usual, looking great. Can't wait to see the final project, whenever you get it done.

I can't totally tell from the picture but I think you have some sort of footings there, is that why you dug so deep? I like the idea of using the 2 x 10s on the posts. I have done it with a double layer of posts as the sides and that was expensive and overkill.

Zana

I am going to put PVC hoops over the top and I went ahead and put up the center posts.

The PVC will run along the top of the posts and one will sun along the center.

A grid so to speak.

With this and a critter fence around the sides maybe I can keep the deer, birds and bugs out.

And yes a sun screen when too hot and a cover in the beginning for the cold with heaters and fans.

Might even install a small AC unit.

Mike there will be footings and the whole is dug so deep to get rid of roots and will put in gravel and a root barrier.
The the soil will go in last.

The sides are 2x12's the bed is 5X12 a foot over but I can still reach the center.
A fancy structure will go between the two beds and will be used as a greenhouse.

Wow, awesome plan. I'll be excited to see the finished project. The only thing you might want to add is a hot tub.

You got it, and a fertilizer or what ever fogger, no use in letting that PVC go to waste.
Going to paint the PVC.
