Default Doo, Doo, Doo, Lookin' out my Back Door.

Imagination sets in, pretty soon I'm singin'. Doo, Doo, Doo, what's it look like, out your back door?.....or window...right now?

"Out my back door" photos for 12/14/13. Winter storm Electra has moved into my back yard. It's cold out there...17*F. The snow started this morning. I'll be knocking the snow off my firewood before I bring it in today.

Zone 9 Cali. Finally got to see my Baby tomatoes after a 2 weeks in to freezing temps in the 20's. Makes the winter season feel much shorter.

Right now, as I look out the panel of windows to my backyard all is quiet.

But I'm waiting for your snow to become MY snow starting later this afternoon, when the storm gets to my side of NYS on the Vt border. We're supposed to get between 6-12 inches by tomorrow afternoon.

Usually by this time in Dec we would have had several storms, but not this year, Just flurries and occasional squalls that leave just dustings, and that's it.

Your back yards are still green! Bet, you're jealous. Me, with all that free pure white nitrogen, just piling up deeper and deeper, in my back yard. Anybody wanna buy some cheap ...you haul it away for an even deeper discount.

Carolyn, we're looking at 8" to 12" and possibly even 12" to 18" depending on who's doing the predicting. Stay warm and dry. Seems like a good time to curl up with a hot beverage and the seed catalogues of your choice.

The view out my back door just now. It's not snowing today for a change. I have lots of "poor man's fertilizer" (snow) on my garden so far this winter too. Looking forward to spring in my new little greenhouse. Perusing seed catalogs and doing some Christmas baking in the meanwhile.
have a nice day everybody!

We have a total of about 15-18" accumulated from several snow storms in the last month. It's a pretty blanket of white snow that is going nowhere until April. Our lowest nights have been around -20F below. Not too bad today, it feels downright balmy at 2 F. Ginger and Delerium, you have lovely gardens! I'll be heading down for my annual month in Mexico in just three weeks. Can't take January in Minnesota anymore.

Only 4 inches of snow but pretty cold. I can see my garden from my back doors. One shot of the lonely cages waiting for spring and another of my back door from the garden.

It's been cold in Central California. My water feature is an ice feature.

When you see what a person has to work with in the off season, you can better appreciate what has been done over time in order to turn it into that lush and beautiful garden when in full bloom. Of course, those that are in their off season also get to see the beauty of other's gardens in different locales that are in full swing and bloom. I don't think we should stop taking pictures just because it's the off season in our back yards.
That's a nice set up, Anne. {{Shh...I have a revolutionary new idea for a grafting technique}}

That's nice in ice! AC/CD should make an album by that name. The photo would make a good album cover.

I'm just loving seeing everyone's yards. Up here at the cottage, everything is covered with about 5 inches. Don't have my camera cord with me to post a picture. If I wait until the right moment, I get those deer in the picture. You know the ones that eat my landscaping all the time. They are not the least bit afraid of me, so I should be able to get a real good closeup. The canal is frozen and there is lots of ice on the bay. It is early to have this much ice up here.

Fire in the fireplace tonight.
