Are the small peppers that have yellow, orange and red peppers in them three different varieties or one variety at three differnt stages of ripeness?

Thanks. I saved and planted seed from a package that came from Aldi. I kind of thought they where different because this bag was old and the yellows didn't seem to be turning orange and the orange didn't seem to be turning red. I suspect I'll know in a week if I get good germination from all three.

Those peppers are good! Really sweet. I saved some seed from an orange habanero from the Dominican Republic i purchased locally, but I think i may save seeds from these too.
I used these tri-colors to make a pepper sauce and it came out great! I need to practice some new pepper recipes as when i get to my own this fall, i don't want to experiment with my own crop. I want proven recipes. |

The mini-bells are sold by seed companies as "Yum-Yum Mix."

I bought a seed pak from Ferry-Morse called Pepper Mini Bell Blend with red, green and yellow pictured on the pak. From 2012 and I germinated them this spring. Only about 50% germ. but now to see if they grow since I potted them in small 4 paks. Hoping they will do well.
So, Doug how is your germination coming? |

THe yellow and orange ones did better that the red ones for what ever reasons. Given the germination percents they definitely are different peppers.

I began growing these two years ago and I'm down to 2 regular size bells and the rest these as far as sweet peppers go. I bought the Yummy Mix from Jung. I contacted them and they confirmed they are OP.
I also saved a seed from a similar store bought pepper (don't remember the color) and planted it this winter. I pinched it back at about 3 true leaf sets and it branched nicely. It's in it's final pot, waiting for summer and is just beginning to flower sitting next to the patio door (manually pollinating). |

I bought the Yum-Yum mix from tomato grower's supply, and it is listed as a hybrid. I wonder if it's any different from what Jung sells.

FWIW, I checked out their website and the picture of their Yum-Yum Mix peppers look different than what I get from the plants I've grown. Since I know the Jung seed I got are OP--I'm going to save seeds, that way I can try to have a balance of red, yellow, and orange.

I don't think the ones from Aldi's are yummies. I have grown yummies for several years and they don't have very many seeds in the them, sometimes none at all. The orange ones taste the best, too, btw. It is a variety from E. Europe, and I am thinking Hungary. the ones from Aldi's have a large amount of seeds compared to all of the yummies I have grown.

I don't shop at Aldi's but the ones I get have very few seeds. I will save them next time and grow next year.
