This video shows vacuum sealing meat, but you could do this with cheese and veggies.

I have been using the intake on my motorcycle for a vacuum pump.

I did several bags of chicken yesterday using this method and as suspected it isn't as good as a vacuum seal how could it be.
But it did do a better job than nothing and I am not going to suck on a bag of raw chicken. ![]() Here is the deal if you put a bag under water 1 foot with a hole in the top to let air escape. At the one foot level you have 0.433 PSI of pressure pushing on the outside of the bag. Here is something to think about. It you put a bag in the freezer and the freezer goes on a vacuum like mine does the bag puff up? Of course it does. We never see it because when we open the door the pressure increases to normal. ![]() Worth |

I just pulled some of the chicken out of the freezer after the water seal thing and it looks pretty good.
No dried up spots or the frost sticker ice things on the meat. ![]() Worth |

Thanks for the testing, Worth. I'm retiring, and moving, in a couple of months, so I'm clearing out the freezer, and not adding anything. But it is good to know that I have an option when my next year's garden comes in for freezing. I don't eat a lot of meat, but it would be nice to buy the family packs so I can save a little money. This is eco friendly because all of those plastic machines will eventually break and end up in the landfill. Also, I want to keep gadgets to a minimum in a small kitchen

You are welcome.
Nothing really needs to be on a vacuum it just needs to have a lack of oxygen. When I freeze soups and such it is easy to accomplish this. Worth |
