Seeds from the Buff-Niagara WNY 2008 Tomatofest
Greetings Once Again All (5 June 2009),
I have updated the list on what's available still. I apologise for the delays, but have now located all seeds that were packed up with the pending move of house. Still haven't moved, but have found the seeds....sigh. But I didn't do any grow outs personally this year. I'll deal with individual seed requests separately. If you don't hear from me by Sunday evening, if you had previously requested seeds and didn't get a response, ping me again. My apologies about any delays Zana PS - A little birdie told me that there is a change in date for this year's Buffalo Niagara WNY TomatoFest. So stay tuned to further announcements from Remy. Greetings All, I just finished processing the last of the seeds I brought home from Remy's fabulous party! I tried to save to help Remy by taking this task off her hands. Like her, I shall offer the seeds (no trade required) to those that attended this year's party. In the following list almost all tomato varieties are represented, if there were seeds to save. Some more than others, so there are limited quantities available in those, and are marked as such. I'd like to be able to mark the seed packets with the seed source - so those of you who attended or sent along varieties, please identify from this list, which ones you brought. That way, if anybody has any questions of the grower they're the ones that can be contacted. The vast majority of these were ones I hadn't grown so I can't offer any data on those varieties. Also if I have any spellings that are incorrect, please let me know. (I had to go from what was copied off the plates onto baggies. Some of the baggies smeared.) BTW, the last 24 varieties are drying right now. So if you end up picking one of those, I'll hold off sending all varieties you request until those are dry enough to package and send with the rest.

I've got the following with which to trade (please note, I do not bag blossoms and nobody else in my neighbourhood is growing tomatoes or any other veggies for that matter), if you're interested:

I'll be mailing while in the States on Thanksgiving weekend to avoid any issues with importing. If you need it sooner, please let me know. Also all those I still owe trades to, I apologise for the delay, but am just now surfacing from the insanity that Oktoberfest and running a Festhalle for 2300 for 10 days...and the prep that goes into that beforehand and afterwards...causes. I'm only surfacing to check email and post this today and then heading back to bed to catch up on the sleep lost over the past 3 weeks. I'll be mailing out the ones to the States and any Canadian this week...and other countries, if any next week. All seeds collected and processed at the Buffalo-Niagara WNY Tomatofest, September 6th 2008 at Remy's place in Grand Island, NY are processed and dried and ready to be sent out free to anybody that attended. They are marked "2008 Seed *". Attendees get first dibs on those seeds, especially if limited quantities. After that, I'll fill the outside "trades" for those seeds. I am interested in pastes and smaller varieties - but what the heck am willing to try almost anything. If you know they grow well in containers, that's a bonus, since all of mine are grown in varying size containers. Thanks, Zana Last edited by Zana; June 5, 2009 at 05:56 PM. Reason: updating |

Hi Zana,
I actually got quite a few requests from non-party people, but it was spread out over the winter. Also, I post over on GW a lot so I get people emailing me fairly often. You never know what people will want. I can never guess which seeds I will go through quickly and which ones sit. Sometimes ones that seem to sit, but I know are worth growing, I will put in as a bonus. Remy

Hey ladies, I'm way late here, but Zana/Remy, do you have any seeds left? I saved a few Rinaldo seeds from the party, and one other variety that escapes me, but I can't find where they went! I was going to try and put in a seed order, but if you guys have any extra's leftover, I'd love to do a SASE or I could even stop by and pick them up from you Remy. Let me know if there's any thing left!
Zana, I've got your hollyhock ready to winter sow this weekend! |

I've still got the seeds, but at the moment they're packed in a box. Check the list posted above and let me know what you want, and when I can get to them next week (hopefully sooner) I'll check to see if still available. Stuff got packed for the move, but I'm thinking I was crazy to get talked into packing that stuff so early. Sighhhhhh. At least packing or unpacking seeds are "lightweight" work. (Managed to get through my first 3 day stretch without a coughing spasm/hacking fit....so must have the pneumonia on the run...finally...sighhhh.)

Tara,
Don't I remember this happening last year too? I see Zana has her seeds put away.(Zana, where/when are you moving? Are you getting more garden space?) So it might be easiest for me to send some. I've still got Rinaldo and lots of other seeds. I've got my list on the link below. The tomatoes are at the end of the seed list. http://members.gardenweb.com/members/exch/remy Remy

You may remember that I live with my Dad. He's decided to downsize to a smaller house....which has mean an "editing" nightmare, since there is Dad (and Mum's) 50+ years of stuff, plus my stuff to go through to even get it "showable". Then there is the painting/touch-ups, etc. That being said I know exactly where the seed boxes are. And they're not sealed, they're just not beside my computer desk like they are normally. I'll try to go through and update the list in the next day or so. I do have the ones from your place separated from my main stash, so that should make it somewhat easier. However, some of the varieties were down to 6 or less seeds, the last I looked. Some I didn't get allot of to begin with too. And I admit that I didn't take seeds from all varieties since I already had some of them, so you may have ones that I didn't grab that evening. (I also have to admit to having "lost" at least 3 varieties - grrrrrrrr - the cleaning lady thought she'd do me a favour since the stuff in the "baggie-ziplock" was "moldy" she dumped it into a new bag. And tossed the original with the name on it. (So, they're technically not lost, but more like mystery tomato seeds now. And yeah I told her never to touch my seeds again - since she didn't know what she was doing, and she just cost me a number of varieties. Unfortunately she only hears what she wants to hear, and has worked for my Dad (and Mum) for over 45 years now....and shows no signs of wanting to retire. Sighhhhhh....) Zana |

Remy...I believe you sent me Olive Hill....I grew it out last summer and had incredible production results ...Large pinks rarely do well here (outside of Mortgage Lifter and County Agent). While the flavor wasn't as good as I expected I think this is an amazing variety for production and would like to offer it next year at SSE...
Does anyone have any history/info on Olive Hill ? Thanks. Jeanne |

Yes, I sent you Olive Hill. From everyone who has grown it, the big comment has been on production so that seems to be the norm for this variety. Mark Korney, screen name Korney19, grew it. I don't know where he got the seeds from. I assume the seeds was named after Olive Hill, Kentucky, but I could be totally wrong. Mark hasn't posted in some time, but I bet if you PM him, he'll get back to you. Zana, I can imagine it is a nightmare!! Trying to get this small ranch house in shape and go through all our stuff after 16 years would be quite the task. So sorry about the cleaning lady! If you grow out the mysteries we could play name that tomato! At least there is a definitive list to choose from unlike most "Do you recognize this tomato?" posts . Well, I hope out of all this you do get more gardening space! Remy

Olive Hill
Received seed for Olive Hill from Spudleaf Willie - here is the background I've saved to my computer (still doesn't give original source though)
NM MA W 06 via MO WA C 1993 Tom/Pink Indet PL 80-85 days seed from 11:5 oz fruit tasty and juicy another oldie not grown much any more. . Bill says: another “oldie but goodie”, excellent pink PL tasty and juicy with good flavor. Not grown much any more and is somewhat rare. 2006 seed from an 11.5 oz. fruit. Korney says in 2007: I'm growing many varieties from Bill Malin this year. Here's Olive Hill--maybe somebody else can comment on it, but it meets all your criteria: thin skin, PL, large, midseason, very productive, very good taste, indeterminate, etc. It is a little bigger than you wanted though--10-12oz. Production is pretty high for me--some clusters have 3 to 5 fruits. http://www.tomatoville.com/attachmen...5&d=1189200199
