Hey Ella, I am really liking the Zolotistyi. It is very sweet when fully golden yellow and is great cooked or raw. It is producing well for me, much more than any other bell I have grown before, but not as much as say a banana pepper. Each plant has already given me about 7-8 large bells with more on the way.

As promised, the picture of the finished peach melba jam is below.
I also included a pic of the cherry tomatoes we brought in last night. They are still killing it in the production department (that basket has over 13 pounds!). We seem to be in between flushes of the bigger guys, but if my KBX is any indication, there is going to be one more large flush before the season is over. That plant has 12 large (look to be over a pound each) tomatoes just on the brink of changing color. I hope the weather cooperates!

Nice, Kelly.
I had to pick my Kellogg's Breakfast green because the plant was dying. They ripened up great. I wish you to pick it yellow, but if not it would still be fine tomato. Great cherry harvest.

I have been working on some other (non garden) project this last week, but I did manage to put some of my abundance of cherry tomatoes to use. I blended them down with some spices and a few hot peppers to make a nice spicy ketchup. I am really pleased how it came out, which is good since the recipe yielded 14 jars!

I hope everyone's fall gardening is going well. I am starting to get a bit of production. I am still getting a few tomatoes from my Big Beef and KBX plants but all another varieties have mostly shut down. I picked a large bunch of Swiss chard (perpetual spinach) and Osaka Purple Mustard Green for Dinner yesterday. They were tangy and delicious lightly steamed. I'm also getting the last few figs from my tree. The one I had yesterday was sporting a nice drop of honey from the eye. It was knee buckling delicious! Cheers!

Kelli, how nice to have your dinner picked from the garden at this time.
I had few okra and sweet and hot peppers with tomatoes picked yesterday. It made nice sauté with freshly fried ground pork cutlets. Mmm... btw our family loves figs as well

Thanks, Ginny
Winners this year: Blush (hands down favorite for production, taste and versatility in use) Black Cherry (went head to head with Chocolate Cherry and beat it out for taste) Sungold (per usual) Lime Green Salad (that little guy is STILL putting out sweet tangy little tomatoes in Oct) Dwarf Rosella Purple (taste very comparable to Cherokee Purple, was happy in a 7 Gal container) Dwarf Sweet Sue (Super productive for a Dwarf and we loved the sweet taste) KBX (same delicious fruits as Kellogg's Breakfast, but none of the disease issues) Big Beef (Can't beat this one for reliable production and lots of it, taste is a little bland as a slicer but not when cooked, great for my canned salsa) Not so Hot this Year: Siberian Giant Pink (taste was lovely, but two plants only produced 4 fruit for me) New Big Dwarf (again the one fruit I tasted was delicious but this plant went down with some sort of wilting disease in early July) Sweet Linda (early production, but the taste when fresh left something to be desired for me. They were VERY tasty dried, but the two plants went down early with disease in a bed where everything else thrived) Blaming User Error this year: Jaune Flamme and Eva Purple Ball: These were two of my absolute favorites in 2013, but this year I planted them in SWC's and they stayed too wet all season. Production and flavor suffered greatly but I will definitely try them again next year

Kelli thanks for the detailed report. Seems Black Cherry and Sungold always make the cut.
Im excited to hear Blush did so well. I have one growing now and it's just starting to take off. Juane Flamme is thr most productive of all my plants right now... I was really surprised. And Kelloggs Breakfast hasnt even set one tomato yet and has been struggling some so next time I will try KBX. Thanks again for the report. Ginny |

No problem, Ginny. I wish you the best of luck choosing what you are going to plant in 2015...I know I am going to need the same
Just wanted to post a quick pic of our first Oregon Giant Snow Pea that I spotted this morning. Hopefully I get a few before a frost hits! My carrots and beets are looking great. Growing those in SWC, I have had much greater success than I ever did in ground. My Mustard Greens and Red Russian Kale are being decimated by caterpillars so I bought some BT to apply this weekend. Fingers crossed. Hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather

Kelli, we have next night forecast to go down to 38 F. I have few Prudence Purple, Cherokee Chocolate and Cowlick that are still green and am hoping to pick them with some blush. We need couple of weeks of nice weather.
