I believe it. I've had shade cloth melt, and a battery in an appliance (pump) that seemed to spontaneously combust. But not this year. So far our high has been 106, which is high for June.

We just experienced 2 consecutive days of record low temperatures in Albuquerque. The high was 68F on Tuesday and 72F on Wednesday! We just got off of record high temperatures the week before at 102F. What a relief. All my plants were rejoicing in the cool mist. I sympathize with all who are getting roasted. That's our usual situation so this unreal cool spell is very special.
