Oh okay, that is good to know. I wish I wouldn't have cut these affected limbs then. oh well.
now i know. Okay, I read somewhere that they aren't as good unless they are fully ripe. Yeah, the cucumber is all shriveled up and dead. I think the BW did them in.

Wow your garden really took off, it is hard when you keep getting hit with things in the garden but overall you have done well in overcoming so much.
thanks for sharing all your garden pictures.

Okay, I had my first Paul Robeson tomato yesterday...It was fabulous!!!!!!
I just collected a nice bunch of Black Cherry tomatoes. Unfortunately, something is going on with this plant. I do have to admit, I haven't really sprayed these in the last three weeks. I ran out of pest spray and actinovate. Funds are low...you get the idea. Here are some pictures. Maybe you guys can help me diagnose the problem...

I don't know what it is, but I see it all of the time. Solution:
snip, snip, snip, occasionally pull something up in disgust and toss the whole plant.

I have been meaning to get out there and clean it up but haven't. I am off on wednesday. Maybe then.
Also, none of the other plants are showing this...

I see the same thing on some tomato plants mid-season, especially cherries. Some lower branches turn brown and crunchy, and some speckling on some leaves above. Never any sign of disease or bugs. I always attributed it to drought stress or normal leaf aging. I just fertilize and make sure they have plenty of water if it hasn't rained in awhile.

Just read this whole thread and I picked up a lot of advice second-hand; nice!
Edited to add: I see the SIP plan is now up at Family Handyman, though it looks a little elaborate, non-portable, and expensive for this beginner! http://www.familyhandyman.com/DIY-Pr...r/Step-By-Step Last edited by kilroyscarnival; October 31, 2012 at 09:39 PM. Reason: added link |

Sorry for the delay...they all did great! The black cherry produced tons. They did better than the ones in the earthtainer. Yeah this system was a little pricey. I used treated instead of cedar and found a pond liner on clearance.

Well my tomatoes aren't doing that great this year. Not sure what is going on. This one is small but man does it has a lot of blossoms (Blondkopfchen) uploadfromtaptalk1374797636536.jpg
The only nice one, is the one I planted in the 4 x 4 raised bed. Although it is looking weird. Looks purple around some of the edges. It is a black Krim. Here are some pictures:uploadfromtaptalk1374797550591.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1374797578887.jpg Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
