LISP Guido
Meet Guido
The plant arose from a seed mix obtained from Long Island Seed Project (LISP). Here is a link to a narrative LISP maintains regarding the several dwarves in the seed mix: http://liseed.org/hrtom.html All the plants are very rugose with some being very erect "stakeless" types. This truss was touching the ground, so I put straw under it to keep the rest from getting those scabby spots. I don't know if any of the seeds in the mix were supposed to produce a bullet-shaped tomato, but here it is. Until I find out whether it already has a name, I'm affectionately calling it Guido. PV |

Are you aware there is already a variety named Guido? Valereee and I both got seed from Val McMurray in Canada, who is on here as grungy. We’re both growing it this year. All I know about it is - determinate, red, 70 - 80 days, up to 2 pounds.

JerryL,
Thanks for the head's up. I did a search and found your and Valeree's references to the Guido you're growing. So ... I guess this little buggeroo will have to go by another name. PV |

I’m not sure from your initial post if the plant you have is a dwarf. If so, it opens all kinds of possibilities. Just think Italian: Guido the Dwarf Stubby Guido  Little Guido

JerryL,
Yes, it's a dwarf and I was lookin' for a nickname that kinda went with the bullet shape ... How about "Bugsy?" Is that taken? PV |

Well, if you're looking for something of an "guido" nature that is reminiscent of bullets, then may I suggest:
Tommy Gun (kinda like tommy toe, etc..) or.. Pacino or Scarface ..."Say hello to my little friend" - Eric |

I was out checking the dwarves yesterday and the little mafioso is still puttin' out bullet-shaped toms all over the top of the plant too ... so it isn't weather related ... it's loaded with little green bullets.
The rest of the LISP dwarves are loaded with round fruit of various sizes. No color showing yet. Now ... if I go out there on the 4th armed with a shotgun, maybe I can pop a couple of the Mockingbirds that are decimating my ripe toms ... they really love the Indian Stripes ... and anyone who hears it will think it's fireworks. PV |
