Tom,

Based on the reading I've done while researching info as I attempt to grow my own, I would say definitely yes.

But I'll wait for the 'potato experts' to give the official word.

Yes, you will get potatoes, but they may have some diseases from the past year's crop which could reduce your output. Still worth a shot..

Thanks everyone - I'm gonna leave them and see whats what - do you stake the plant - or kinda just let it sprawl all over the joint ?

I have 2 super healthy plants - its pretty funny actually.

I haven't heard the term (JOINT) in years.

I was reluctant to post about planting store bought potatoes because I wanted to see what other people said.

I have seen folks start a whole field with store bought potatoes.

My folks always purchased potatoes meant for planting.
When we planted potatoes we planted about a 1/4 acre of them and I hated digging the things so I wouldn't plant them now if I had the soil to do it in.
Maybe the fancy or red ones but not a russet type.
As for sprawling we never staked potatoes there is no point in it.

I also focus on waxy potatoes. They're great with dinner. I can always buy russets for making baked potatoes at the store.

I stake my potato haulms but again I am a novice (so don't follow my way). I grow them in pots at the front porch and by staking, they look tidy.

My potatoes are doing well - there are some bugs bothering the foliage, but its not that big of deal. I'll post a pic soon.
