Disease Disables Tomato Plants "Intruder alarm"

Came across this article in Science Daily on one of my Google expeditions. What's interesting about this is tomato plants have receptors that alert it to attacks from diseases and turns on the plants defense mechanisms to help fight off the disease. But certain diseases attack and disable the receptors allowing the plant to be attacked undefended.

What this brought to mind is the use of aspirin which also turns on the plants defenses. So as we have discussed in previous threads on the use of aspirin maybe setting up a schedule of periodic foliar applications of a solution of aspirin and water might pay off in the long run towards disease prevention.
