Default Melon seed life span

I have about 100, 45k to 200k diamonds and several elephant tusks from Africa--------- Whoops wrong forum.
Let me see oh here it is.

Melon seeds, how long can you expect to keep melon seeds mush melon cantaloupe and water melon kept in a cool dry place?
Mine are about 4 years old and would like to plant them out here in about 2 weeks.
Some are not to be found in the store.

It's probably a good idea to pre-sprout some using the paper towel/coffee filter method. I had some cucumber seeds that were a few years old last year and some varieties didn't germinate at all planted directly in containers. I'll be pre-sprouting this year ahead of time to make sure what I have is viable. At least you can pot up the good one's and plant them in your garden when conditions are favorable.
