MAGTAG VI - 2011 - Winners List!
It was another "In Like Flynn" kind of day ...
The largest tomato was Omar's Lebanese, grown by Greg Flynn - 1 lb, 13-1/2 oz. Greg beat his dad, Neil, who had the second-largest tomato. Oh, well, the only good thing about Greg winning Largest Tomato is the fact that I can use his cute kids on next year's poster! Taste Test Winners: 1. Green Doctors Frosted - Gregory William Flynn (the favorite by far!) 2. Isabel Pink - G. Flynn 3. JD's Special C Tex - G. Flynn 4. Prue - G. Flynn 5. Morx White - G. Flynn 6. Little Lucky - G. Flynn 7. Black Cherry - G. Flynn 8. Morx Like - G. Flynn 9. Sungold - C. Strakna 10. White Currant - G. Flynn 11. Primrose Gage - Trudi Davidoff 12. Green Giant - G. Flynn (yawn...) 13. Reynard 119 - T. Davidoff 14. Berkeley Tie-Die Pinks - G. Flynn 15. Tommy Toes - T. Davidoff Rob Kasper from the Baltimore Sun snuck in at the end of the festival, but I noticed him and made him draw raffle tickets for the jars of MAGTAG sauce and peaches that Lynn T. so kindly provided. All proceeds went to Trudi Davidoff's WinterSown Educational organization. Thanks to everybody who brought tomatoes, food, and themselves to the event. I counted 35 attendees, not including Emily the dog. And although we missed a few regulars (Annebert, Mary, Hank), there were several newbies that I hope we convinced to grow heirloom/OP tomatoes in the future! |

More Photos later (my sis took a bunch)
I admit that I was a little out of it Saturday, since my car had been rear-ended on the Baltimore Beltway a few days before. But I still had a great time! Last edited by Cecilia_MD7a; August 22, 2011 at 12:42 PM. Reason: Add info |

Congratulations to all, and to Greg for a near-sweep of the top ten! I think the winners should be encouraged to share their tips for producing such fine specimins -- and especially for Green Doctors Frosted. It really was amazing.

Missed you all. I have NO medals from this event in my trophy room. To have one tops my bucket list. Er, I also have no trophy room, but I would start one. Hope to run into some of you at least on line.

Hey, Greg - did your Dad get any good photos of your son & daughter holding the largest tomato? I need some cover kids for next year's poster!
