Are eggplant flowers self fertile in the same way that tomatoes are?

I remember grasshoppers when I was a kid. There were zillions of tem all over the place in summer. Now I can't remember the last time I saw one, they altogether disappeared.
I don't recall them ever bothering tomato or eggplants. Must be those big Texas grasshoppers that are the troublemakers. |
