Default Cage for homemade earth box

This cage made from concrete re-enforcing wire looks like it's going to work pretty well for HEBs sitting on the ground. The wire is 5 feet tall. I'll use 4 foot sections of concrete re-enforcing rods on each end as support to keep them from blowing over. It was simple to made, the holes are 6 inches apart so it takes 10 sections for a Rubber Maid 18 gallon tote. Starting at one end, bent two sections, then 3 sections, 2 sections, 3 sections. Use the tines to bind cage closed.

Looks good Earl! Will keep in mind for next year or fall, as the gardening budget is about used up. This year, I plan to use some extra round crw cages in a similar way. Just drill some holes in the sides of the HEB ( good name, also the name of a big chain of grocery stores named after Harold E. Butts, great guy), and will use plastic zip ties or tie wire to connect to box. My cages are wide enough to do this.

I can't find that kind of wire at a reasonable price. The big box
stores want you to buy a whole roll for like $55!

NOT!

If the roll is more than enough to make tomato cages, then use it to make an arch to grow beans or cukes. 18 feet would give you a nice arch if you used something to brace it to make sturdy.

Default ConcreteWire Cages

Noted the price of concrete wire at $55.00 a roll in Florida; last year here in Louisville it rose to $105.00 for a 150 foot roll and I passed on it, but this year I found it for $80.00 a roll at Home Depot and I need to buy two more rolls for cages. Supply and demand! "SPIDER"

Did you check the length of the Home Depot rolls?
