Throwback Thursday Tomato
Cherokee Tiger F2 Indeterminate, aka Cherokee Teardrop August 2012 Note: The gs (green stripe) genetics appears intermediately dominant, same as you could also see (faint skin stripes) in the previous F1 fruit which looked essentially the same, but was egg shaped rather than pointed. This F2 plant repeated the F1's shortened internode spacing, indeterminate, non-rugose foliage. (TIgerette x Cherokee Purple) Last edited by travis; October 8, 2015 at 05:19 PM. |

Linda, I will be looking for more pronounced skin stripes next time I grow some of these.

So long as I'm throwing back on Thursday, here is another striped type I grew in 2012, although this one matured fruit about a month earlier and a bit more prolifically ...
... this is Pink Carneros by Brad Gates, Wild Boar Farms. Awesome production with little or no irrigation during the extended, extreme drought of 2012, with record high heat from mid-July - late September. Last edited by travis; October 8, 2015 at 05:30 PM. |

They were very healthy, but then 2012 was very dry, so very little fungal stuff; and no cracking until it rained beginning the first week of October.

I like more than anything else, the stripe feature.
OTOH: it is nice to get such a big harvest this point in season, in INDIANA . Gardeneer |

Thank you for sharing. It looks beautiful. What a fun project to be working on. I can't wait to see your f3 selections. I really enjoy watching how people choose and grow out their varieties. A challenging process.
