Nice strong little babies. Karma purple f1 seeds germinated much faster than the karma pink F1 seeds. Among these should be potato leaf seedlings to select. A late start but should be plenty of time to get fruit and seeds in time for Marshas fall garden
Looking forward to seeing what comes of these babies

That is a whole lot of seedlings! The KARMA purple F1 plant was much more vigorous too. I actually just cut both of them down yesterday, they are pretty much finished. Kind of sad because both were really tasty.
You know I am watching. This is great fun.

Picking out the regular leaf and leaving the potato leaf seedlings behind as they reveal themselves.

I have some cute little potato leaf F2 seedlings selected and growing with a late start due to our move to the Coast. I sure hope that among them will be a pretty potato leaf cherry with great flavour.
I will have to grow them in pots this year but I am confident that if there is something worth pursuing that I will have F3 seed to send to Marsha for her fall garden in Florida.

I am thinking 6 spots in the fall garden. 3 of each. What do you think? It could be more.... I just took the pink and purple F1 down a few days ago. They were some of the last ones standing. Hybrid vigor.

I have been really busy after our move to Vancouver Island and so have not been posting much but here is an update on the F2s growing out and I am happy to see that there are potato leaf cherries as was the goal of the cross. Now to see how the fruits turn out, what color they are and I am sure hoping they taste great so that there is a success here to take forward to stabilize among them. I am interested as well in the difference in foliage. The rugosed foliage one with the tidy trusses is my favourite so far as far as habit. Please please please may they taste amazing as well... I hope it`s not too much to hope for Excited to find out and to get some F3 seed to Marsha for her fall garden. Wish us luck folks!!
