Aussie 2007 Herb Update
Hi,
I will start this thread. Thanks to Sue I have some perennial dill growing. Pics when can do. The usual parsely and coriander or cilantro have self seeded in cracks and the lawn and stuff. Big rosemary, heaps lemon thyme, thyme, oregano and best season for marjoram ever. I saved seeds from me basils, purple, thai and sweet, and sowed sweet and looks like I got a few purple ones, so maybe a cross. |

Aussie herb season
Grub,
Looks like a very good start on your herb garden. I didn't get any dill going this season and I missed it. Just had a couple of stalks that were seeded from the year before. You are lucky to be able to grow basil outdoors...doesn't happen here. Sue |

Perennial dill? Never knew there was such a thing.
I have Bronze Fennel, which is perennial. It's very pretty and is growing like mad after its rest over winter. Sweet Basil has self-seeded in a pot. I have tons of Perilla seedlings coming up and the usual stuff, such as Rosemary (which is flowering madly at the moment), Parsley (which is doing really well, too). Anyway, everything is looking good. Glad you started this thread, Grub. Even though it took me a week to find it.

Aussie 2008
Spatzbear,
The dill is called "Mammoth" and really isn't perennial, it just reseeds each year. I didn't replant any this year so I only had what few seeds left in the ground from the previous year come up. It is a beauty...very tall and wispy and very nice planted amoung Oriental lillies. Maybe Grub will share some seeds after the season. Sue Last edited by akgardengirl; October 12, 2007 at 12:58 PM. Thanks, Sue. That clears this mystery. I like self-seeding stuff. I never really bother with dill anymore, as I have my bronze fennel. And there's the bulb fennel clump that I have left in the ground the last 2 years. Lovely foliage!
