Yeah I'm stoked about trying them. If they taste like most good blacks I will likely grow several next year. The look of the fruit would make them sell very well and tbh most customers think all black tomatoes are Cherokee Purple.

On another note. I go check the mail this morning (didnt go to market b/c out of plants mostly and not enough produce to make it worth it.) and got 2 nice surprises. I got my letter from the USDA and I am now officially a farm and I also got a SASE from a guy I spoke to last week about Sicagno.

He found our website from googling the tomato. He read the description on the site then called me. He wanted plants but I was sold out so I told him I would send him seeds, no charge, just SASE me. He then told me of how his Grandmother had lived in Valledolmo, Italy when she was younger.

Her husband was military and stationed there, and she always talked about those times and how amazing the food, especially the tomatoes were. So he had started searching for them so he could grow them for her, and it led him to me! So cool how tomatoes can bring people together. I opened the envelope and he had included a nice letter and $10. I didn't want the money but still a very nice gesture. Just wanted to share with my TV family.

CONGRATS Jeremy on your being an official farm! Now you are off so that you can do what you wish. How cool is that?

And... You have one of those special notes that I love to receive. In fact, I too got one today from someone that I sent some seeds here at T'ville. These little notes of appreciation make it all worthwhile. Small gesture = big rewards.

Thanks everyone! My site is here.

I know some pictures aren't mine but I will have my own pics of most everything listed soon. I know it is frowned upon by some, but I'm not selling seeds online or anything its just for local customers who buy plants.

BVV:

Just read the whole thread - what a family & farm! Congrats!

What is the white powder-like stuff on some of your tomato plants?

Thanks Jt, it's Surround WP. Organic clay product to reduce heat stress and reduce insect pressure.

It's only $50 bucks from planet natural and a few other places. If you have any feed store type places local they may carry it. It is used a lot in fruit tree orchards. One tip, it washes off easily so in rainy climates it can be hard to keep things coated. The best use I've found is for early transplants and in the GH.

I think it would really help my early transplants and during any long, hot, dry spells - looks like sun tan lotion for tomatoes!

I'll look at farm supply places as I travel.
