Hope all of you got lovely rain without any damage.
We did extremely well at our place. 63mm of rain in the last 24 hours. All gentle, steady rain. Amazing! Haven't checked on my veggies yet, but I'm sure they have grown overnight.

Full Moon, the rain has certainly finished off what the easterly winds started - total defoliation of my fruit trees! Tomatoes sagging a bit but I managed to tie a few up this morning before it started to rain again. The Black Forest did no harm to my already depleted brain cells. Not sure about my daughter's - that'll teach her for assuming 'old people' don;t have any fun!
Spatz, we got 35 in the first 12 hours and 45 in the following 12 hours to 9 am today. Pelting rain. That has to be a record. Dougal refused to go outside despite a rabbit sheltering under the hollyhocks. It's still raining heavily and they are forecasting possible SNOW for the northwest coast. Read the notes on your December guide - I feel a smug attack coming on.....

Snow!!!! Tess did you hear that!
Can you handle a couple of extra guests for Xmas dinner. Tiger Airlines...Melbourne-Launceston $9.95!!! Good the hear about the nice and steady rain Spatz. We got 100mm so far here with severe weather warning again for today. But despite the damage here the rain is absolutly beaufitul. Floorboards stopped squiking, doors are shutting properly...hard clay ground is finally softening! |

You could also make them
Christmas Tequila Biscuits
1 cup dark brown sugar 1 cup butter 1 cup sugar 4 large eggs 2 cups dried fruit (eg sultanas, currants) 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans 2 cups plain flour 1 litre bottle Tequila - First, sample the tequila to check quality. - Take a large bowl. - Check the tequila to be sure It is of the highest quality. - Pour another 100ml in a measuring cup and drink. - Turn on the electric mixer. - Beat one cup of the butter in a large fluffy bowl. - Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. - At this point, it is best to make sure the tequila is still OK. - Try another 150ml, just in case. - Turn off the mixerer thingy. - Break two leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit, picking the frigging fruit off the floor. - Mix on the turner. - If the fried fruit gets stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a screwdriver. - Sample the tequila to check to tonsisticity. oKay? - Next, sift 2 cups of salt or shomething. - Check the tequila. - Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. - Add one table. - Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. - Greash the oven. - Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. - Don’t forget to beat off the turner. - Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the tequila and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher. |

With the constant rain and showers and humidity, some leaf disease, mushy fruit and bad fruitset. Birds are ripping into them too. But also some really good news:
Everything is sooooo early. Vorlon is an excellent black, prolific and tasty. Eaten first fruit only but it's a 7.5/10 already. GMG PL is just awesome. Sorry, have to drink some of my bathwater here... but it's so early compared with every other year and first fruit was easily an 8/10 and texture was superb. Firm and juicy. Interestingly, not much of an amber blush compared with other years... definitely a heat related thing. Snapped some pics and will upload them asap. GMG rocks for me and it's shorter than Summertime Green, Sneezy F4, alongside and also has more fruit. More soon. |

Grub - GMG is definitely a great tomato, we've eaten half a dozen here already in the last few days. Our first few didn't have any blush at all, but the texture is superb. My single plant is about one metre high, with just enough fruit on it for its size. The first fruit here went to a taste test panel of Nurses and it got a 10/10.

I couldn't agree with you more, McSee.
I've lashed out and made an indulgent thread. All the best and thanks so much for the feedback. Grubs |

Ah, making my wife and I very envious with all this talk of ripe tomatoes...
Grub, looks like you have a good selection of GMG - how about shipping some seeds of your best GMG and i will ensure it has a place in my driveway next year - no rush, Patrina can include it when she starts the dwarf seed express to me in a few months or so
