Thanks Dak,

With regard to Captain Lucky my "work" is simply listening to Frogsleap and others who had grown Captain Lucky (bred by Millard Murdock).

Squash seeds will be available (on the Artisan Seeds website) in a couple weeks, after I have my fields all planted.

We were accepted to The Crowd Funder Show, and we will be presenting our project there. But the "funding" process is different than Kickstarter. We are still learning about it, but in our case folks who back our project will get gift cards equivalent to the amount they contribute -- but the gift cards are redeemed for goods sold by "sponsors" of the show (national retail companies).

However, whatever backing we get will allow us to really devote alot of our production to seed harvest, and we will then sell seeds on our website. The backing will be important, because this year we are not in a position to "front" our farm the money lost if we use a significant amount of our peppers and squash for seed production.

We will probably be able to find someone who can use the flesh of the peppers and squash, but they certainly won't pay what we would get selling whole squash and peppers.

Epsilon,

Thanks for the suggestions. I will take them into account when setting up our new project site associated with the show. There is actually a project site very similar to Kickstarter where people look at, and back projects.

Fred, very glad you were accepted to the Crowd Funder Show, hopefully it will allow you to really get geared up for production. I was all hyped up over your Kickstarter project, but alas, am in Canada. And yes, it was the squash I was after...

Sorry the Kickstarter project didn't get funded, but happy to hear about the Crowd Funder show opportunity!

I have a Sunrise Bumble growing now that has several fruits on it. All of them have a nipple on them - not like all the photos I've seen where they're basically round. Is this a normal occurrence?

Sometimes they have a point early in the year.

Where did you get your seed?

Interesting. Some times the first fruits are a bit pointed, but the plant should start making round fruit. Please let me know if that is not the case.

Some times the first purple bumble bee fruits look like little beefsteaks, but then they get round too.

I'm growing Purple Bumble Bee this year. It is competing with Sungold for my most vigorous plant. Excited to see and taste them!

The landrace project just can't be killed off..

Please help us. It won't cost a penny! See the above link to see how this can be.

We do also have some landrace seeds already available at www.growartisan.com but they will be gone soon, and we are trying to fund a serious seed harvest. We have the plants planted, now we are looking for the financing so we can afford to reduce our squash harvest in favor of seeds...
