Lomatia - Jan dosed her standard roses with Sudden Impact, but because of the mulch and sandy soil here, she put what S.I. she needed for the roses in a half bucket of water and let stand overnight. The growth the roses put on was amazing as it got the stuff quicker being disolved.
Like Mantis, I mixed it into the potting mix/coir that I made up for the tomatoes.

Oh oh. Good thing Julie doesn't read this forum. She'd pinch my SI for her roses. I think it hasn't occurred to her yet that it's actually for roses. Must put the bucket in a less visible spot. :surprise:

okay! got my sudden impact! i think i'll give mine a soak too and water the babies tomorrow with the brew.

a bit of tragedy in the hothouse today.
out of nowhere...a spring day. there is a lot of heat related fatalities in there. fortunately...the worst hit were the ones i was going to kill anyway...and one variety that i was going to have thin out...so it's not too depressing.

Bought a small tub of SI at Bunny's today. Dosed 2 bits in each cup (like Cosmic) but also got some Osmocote as a backup as well. I've always used pot sulfate around the garden.

i've got three baby TYW coming up in the green house. i'm really looking forward to this one because of how highly folks rate it when they talk about it.
you can count on me posting pics...but right now...they're just a couple of cotelydons...so nothing majorly noteworthy at the moment.

okay...so now i'm worried that i'm making the sudden imact too strong.
i put one of the measure cups full into a half bucket of water.
how much should i dilute it before feeding it to the seedlings?

The logic I apply is that dilute solutions are only valid until they are washed out of the pots/soil in subsequent waterings. So you want to make is as 'instant' as possible. The recommendation is to sprinkle it as a slow release fertiliser. But that's for roses, so I adapt for seedlings and pot growth. I use two pellets to a 13 cm pot, when the plants have two sets of true leaves and I first transplant them to the pot. This takes them right through to planting out size. Watering takes the nutrients to the roots over a longer period than a dilute solution would. If I leave pellets on the surface I can see when they are fully used up which is generally around planting out time. I guess the same applies for those who mix it into their potting mix, except that it is more randomly spread. Having said that, if you choose to use it as a liquid you probably can't make it 'too strong'. Half of the little measures to one bucket would seem OK to me. It is VERY potent stuff. When in doubt err on the side of caution. You should see results in a week.

I've now added KBX to my "latest" grow list, so now to decide on what else joins them in the garden.

Oregon Spring, Ida Gold and Red Cloud have now been potted up and will reside in the hothouse, while Whippersnapper (2) are in their new hanging baskets and will be hardened off when the wind stops blowing.

Refreshed all my big outside pots and planted out Bunderburg RumBall F4's and 4 in a bed that I dug some leftover potting mix into. Sungold, Gary O'Sena, Neaves Azorean Red and Toms Yellow Wonder. As usual , I have way more plants in than I was planning on.
