Thanks Augiedog!
Have only found Tomato Tone in 4 pound bags around here and they have been hard to find, few in number, and much more expensive. I stocked up....:-) |

I ordered the Bio tone and I was wondering if anyone knows how to add to an Earthbox? Over on their forums they are saying six cups but I knoticed on the earthtainer Ray is saying a quarter cup. Six cups seems like a lot.

Chrissy,
Putting 6 Cups of fertilizer into an EarthBox is a sure way to kill a plant. You should go to the Earthbox website and check planting instructions, but my guess would be a maximum of 2 Cups of fertilizer in the strip. Raybo |

Ray, I am talking about the Bio-tone starter plus. They say mix six cups into the entire box and then use 3 cups of organic fertilizer in the strip in addition to the Bio-tone starter. Six cups just seems like a lot to me but, I am a total newbie with both the EB and Bio-tone.

How much does this picture look like? 3 cups? (Probably enough
for the whole season.) http://www.instructables.com/image/F...izer-Strip.jpg (I use about half that much in a rectangle around a plant, then keep an eye on the lower leaves for nitrogen deficiency as fruit are setting. You can see what nitrogen deficiency looks like here: http://5e.plantphys.net/article.php?ch=5&id=289 If I see it, I add another handful of fertilizer around the bottom of the plant.)

I got my Tomato-Tone yesterday. Espoma bags have a production date stamp, I can read mine, it says "Made On 08/20/11". I've had bags before where it was hard to read the stamp.

What's the item number for this item? I see two Tomato Tones - a 20 pound for $12 and a 4 pound for $55??? Is that right? TIA Which is recommended? And what is the difference?

The 4 pound for $55 says it is 3-4-6. The less expensive 20 pound has no info.
