Salt- I got my 2016 seeds from Marsha- perhaps you did too. The seeds grew true for me, all PL. But when I saved seeds from those fruit, 2 out of 8 came up RL. I had a RL plant right next to it in my garden in 2016 (Dr. Wyche's Yellow I think). When a PL crosses with a RL, you will only get RL in F1, is that right? Anyway, I chucked those seeds and am growing only the PL plants this spring.

As long as the RKN doesn't get it first, I'll post pictures when the fruit gets ripe.
My #1 criteria in a tomato is that it tastes good. Second is how well it produces in my garden/growing conditions. |

Robert, I was surprised at your earliness progress at this time. Nice species .
On RY: I am not a genetic guru So here is my question : Would a cherry crossed with a beefsteak can possibly have beefsteak size tomatoes ? With that that and Darin's experience , i suspect that probably RY is not yet stable. ANYWAY: keep posting pictures and details. I Like pictorial description. A picture speak A LOT. hehe

Gardeneer, thank you. I'm surprised too. Our winter was basically a couple of weeks in January - which is very odd.
What I am to understand is when a cherry tomato is crossed with a beefsteak - it results in a more cherry sized cross. Or at least that's what I've read so many times. There will be more pictures ![]() |

Thanks for the update. I wish my plants were that far along. But considering that we just had 8-10" of snow Saturday, they would all be finished, so in the garage they remain. George

The RL rebel yell cross is a cherry tomato. It's hard to tell from the first picture, but they are in the earliest stage of first blush already. The PL Rebel Yell in the last two pictures look like the real thing.
I started seeds a couple days ago from my original Rebel Yell seeds that were saved by someone else in 2014. |
