It finally feels like spring here. We're expecting a rainy weekend but it'll be warm so I'll take it! It might help my onions and peas come up. I have a lot of lettuce outside and beets are germinating well. Looking at our lows over the next ten days, I could start to harden off tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and basil but my usual plant out day is April 15. I think I'll keep them inside a little bit longer and maybe next week I'll feel more comfortable moving them outside full time. Anyway, I'm cheered up by this weather and the cherry and pear trees, all the daffodils and flowers. It's been a very long winter here, much colder than usual. I am glad to see it go!

Groundhogs leaving....
I understand that the spring predictors (groundhogs) have been seen running down the road with their suitcases, followed by angry crowds threatening to lynch them.
Serves them right, evil little monsters, getting our hopes up with false promises. Spring is coming.....right!!!! Still 4 feet of snow here. |

Easter was pretty early last year but spring was definitely late!

My father always said that spring didn't come until Easter. He was right more years than not, last year being one of the exceptions. It makes sense since the date of Easter is tied to the spring equinox and the full moon.

April 10 is the magic date here, as well. Keeping a close on on the lows in that forecast.
