My two overwintered 13x are looking very healthy. One is definitely a multiflora - lots and lots of flowers. I need to upload a picture but I think probably close to 50-60+ little flowers/buds. I know not all of them will take but still very impressive. I'm going to let both grow and see how the fruit tastes again. Hopefully more to report in June.

Here's the pics - Now you might not think this is anything remarkable, but I wrote that last post on Feb 26 so I think I sowed the seeds around 3/5 - 3/8. So this is 5 weeks from when the seeds were first sowed. I sow seeds outside, just natural light and the temps are what they are.
The high night time lows are my limiting factor for growing year round. Hopefully we will get down to the high 60s again. My other plants are still setting fruit. Dan - I will definitely keep going with this one. I have 4 plants - these pics come from 2 of them. Another one is in an Earthbox but overshadowed by a mature Skyreacher plant. The other was put in an Earthbox today flowering galore with fruit set. |

I finally have had ripe fruit this past week.
A few more today to compare. Just grow lights for the past couple months and very grey skies until recently. Not getting much fruit, mostly green. What i have tasted is exceptional in the 8.5. I saved seeds and plan to just start them all right away for the garden grow-out. I'll keep saving if the flavor is there. The best way i can think to describe the taste is meaty, firm, thin skinned, with rich tomato flavor i've not had in a small cherry. So worth exploring further. I'll do a tray of what seeds i can get and grow them in bags on a deck wall. Cull the weak and look for micro. I hope to get better fruit production in good sun and heat. Nice project. (this one is under 12 inches without any pruning except for lower yellow leaves... |

An update for my warm season micro dwarf growing. I've got 4 plants each: 19xF2 and 11xF3. I'm going to squeeze them into extra containers and cinder block holes if necessary. In 2016 The 11xF3 were very good red PL cherries, I saved seed from the best but want to see if anything different colored or extra special comes from more 11xF3.
Also have 4 19xF2 potted up. Had good winter basement tomatoes from my first planting of seed, but hoping for something more in this round of F2. |

Just wanted to update on my 21X-F3-1 plants. Here is what they look like now, almost 2 weeks later. The two plants have set a lot of fruit; my husband said the other looked 'ratty' - it is in between setting fruit and shedding the flower. So far it looks like every flower has set fruit.
The 2 in the EBs are no where near this productive. The one sharing the EB with the SkyReacher (hog) has not done well at all. |

The 14x -F3 -2 RL plant is already growing in the final container, and is coming up with blossoms.. they probably would have opened already, but it has been so windy and rainy outside for the past few days that there has been no sunlight.
Anyway, the stature is stout, stocky and strong, and it definitely looks like a microdwarf. Whether it's a multiflora too, remains to be seen. Will keep you posted! Last edited by NarnianGarden; April 29, 2017 at 02:33 PM. |

My plant 14X-F3 is growing great and forming tiny edible balls... Too bad the weather is so cold it has to be kept indoors almost all the time.
Hope to see the color break soon and be able to report about the taste etc.. |

So last year I grew 2 of the 13x's for a fall garden but since I had very little sun on my patio by then I got almost no tomatoes. I think maybe 3 or 4 between 2 plants. But one plant produced decent tasting tomatoes. I think maybe 6 or 7. The same two plants survived and one of them is producing little cherries. I've gotten maybe 6 or 7 off of it already, but now the taste is totally bland. They were sweet before but now there is no flavor in them at all. I have been using fertilizer whereas before I never fertilized. Could that be why they are producing more but tasteless? I was hoping with more sun and more care the tomatoes would be even better than they were last fall.

An update to my growings this year.
First 19xF2. Plants are similar, although the one on the right blossomed much earlier and is really getting loaded. Second 11xF3. Right is mutliflora. Left is very late to bloom, I almost thought it was going to be a mule. Started at the same time it was over 3 weeks later to open a flower. Not shown are the 2 plants in cinder block holes along the main garden. One of those is flowering now, the other has a big multiflora display with many green tomatoes already. |

The 14X cross is finally changing color and showing the first hues of yellow/ red. Let's see how the final outcome will be, I am hoping for purple stripes..
But the taste of course is what matters most. |
