Well, I am definitely crazy. But I, too, have finally almost settled down on my list for this year, though I just ordered a few new (to me) dwarfs from Victory. Anyway, here's what I plan for now, with seeding to start next week for the greenhouse varieties, mid-April for the outdoor ones:

I sure hope farmers market sales are good this year! Otherwise we'll be eating a lot of spaghetti and pizza and tomato soup next winter. (Not that that's a bad thing...) Shawn

Farmer Shawn,
That's quite the impressive list. In fact, I almost think it might have been easier to list what ones you weren't growing this year

Shawn, that is a serious list. Hope you're trading/SASEing seeds this winter! I would be very interested to hear some grow reports, favorites, etc. from your 2022 season. Good luck!

Here is what I started. Many of these are older seed, so I am not expecting success with all of them. My goal is 18 viable plants from the first 23 varieties. The last 8 cherry varieties are for a friend of mine, but I get to sample them whenever I want.

Going heavy on the dwarfs from the Dwarf Tomato Project again this year, and also trying some of Karen O.'s varieties:
Eating varieties: Chadwick's Cherry Sleeping Lady (DTP) Mat-Su Express True Colors Tundra Fred's Tie Dye (DTP) Wherekowhai (DTP) Midnight Sun Waratah (DTP) Crnkovic Yugoslavian Pastes: A San Marzano variety Antique Roman Banana Toes (DTP) Stony Brook Speckled (DTP) Stony Brook Heart (DTP) Modern Roman (DTP work in progress) Matsu-Express and Crnkovic Yugoslavian are two I've been wanting to grow for a number of years. I was finally able to find a source for seeds of Mat-Su Express, and one of the very old seeds I had for Crnkovic Yugoslavian finally germinated. The two Stony Brook Paste Dwarfs I've been working on since 2016 were released this year, and I'm hoping Modern Roman will follow next year. I'm thrilled to have dwarf pastes as an option! |
