There is a list of maybe fifteen varieties that will be planted every year just because they are tried and true for me. From recommendations of growers on this and another site another five or six new-to-me varieties will be tried. Then comes the list of this year's new-to-me varieties that have impressed enough to get on the "let's try this one again" list. Then whatever space is left over is the list of "give them another chance" or "it's been a while so let's try these again."

I am cutting way back on varieties and amount for growouts 2016!!

So far on my absolute tomato return list are:

For sauce/paste: At least 5 plants each.

Madame (Marmande) Rouge Garnier .... Very productive...Nice tomato flavor..
Greenbush Italian ....Produtive .. Meaty.. Various sizes on vine..
Lurley's Paste.... Very Productive

Blacks: Slicers/saucers/ bacon tomato jam. Two each

Margaret Curtain... Very productive..Great rich flavor for black.
Black Krim...Very produtive..Yummy

Favorite large slicers : One each... All delish!!

Brandywine...
Bear Claw.. Large .. great production
Winsall.. Large.. excellent production
Red Barn ...Large good production
Daniels.. Very produtive..

Bi colors/ Green/Yellows: One each

Aunt Ruby's German Green... Very productive.. Yummy large GWR

Not sure if these guys will make a return :

German Johnson. Potato LF.... 1st year growing.. spectacular flavor!! Flavor packed a real punch.. The fruit were mid size to small.. ripened slowly.. and erratically..
Big Beef... Nice sized round uniform red fruit. Good production.. lacks flavor for me.. but better than winter store bought hybrid tomatoes.
Dester... Nice tomato but the flavor did not peak until later in the season.

Making room for a few new tomatoes to try, so dropping these favorite reliablle , yummy tomatoes. Will be back again in future...

Elgin Pink! Almost forgot about that one. I've had 2 large ones so far and did not share them... they just happened to be ripe when no one else was around, and they had to be eaten immediately. It will definitely return.

Cherokee Purple and Black Cherry are the only two that have guaranteed spots. Everything else comes down to planning and planning is often overcome by wild urge and impulse planting. So no idea, really. Lol!

a few Matina or Stupice in buckets, haven't noticed a difference between them
Prudens Purple a good producer, Eva Purple beat it prior years
KBX tons of fruit and refreshing
San Marzano, Lungo or Redorta
Waspician Peach a new favorite as I like fruity, also refreshing
and drum roll ...
Bedouin I eat that in the garden like a bowl of tomato soup in your hands, yummy!

Will have to try Big Beef. Got a pack in a box of Home Farmer Organic Seeds from Menards.

I forget to include Black Cherry. Another one that doesn't make it back from the garden.

Black Krim will always be in my garden. It favors my soil and environment. Don't even water the plant and it puts out monsters of beauty and flavor. It just seems to like it here. The high prairie and Black Krim are an odd partnership but something is right even if by accident. Beats Big Boy for production!

I'm gonna do a few more market variety determinates too. Mountain Pride put out like nothing I've ever seen before. 'Course this is my first determinate besides Roma which all BERed last year so they were not here this year.

So I want to try that Cosmonaut Volkov to see if it likes it here.

I had 16 plants this year, of all different varieites. The only ones I know FOR SURE will come back next year are:

Sungold
Snow White Cherry
Copper River
Coustralee

The last two were new for me this year, and were astonishingly excellent!! The others I tried were unstable seed, poor producers, or hearts which I have decided hate me for some reason. Wimpy vines impossible to 'keep up' which kept collapsing on themselves. Fruit tiny and prone to bugs.

My one Kardia Karpos plant this year produced PL pink beefsteaks. They were the sweetest tasting large tomatoes in my garden this year.

Aly Mustang - good production of a long paste type NO BER in a very wet summer!
Cherokee Purple Heart - great production of large hearts with great flavor, NO BER
Iva's Red Berry - one of only two cherries that made the cut. Great flavor and production
Marizol Korney - rather late but very good production and flavor.
Sirja's Love - the other cherry, good production of wonderful tasty deep yellow cherries.

Also coming back are several crosses I grew this year. One of which had outstanding production of large pink beefsteaks. Keeping my fingers crossed that it does it again next year.
